The center for technological entrepreneurship of the Herzliya Municipality includes a workplace for start-ups, a platform for meetups and competitions. It is the first municipal accelerator in Israel. The Ministry of Local Affairs and Ministry of Economics awarded the HAC the innovation award in 2017 for its entrepreneurial and groundbreaking activities.

The participating startups will enjoy a professional work-space accompanied by leading mentors in their fields, access to the municipal database, connection to relevant municipal officials. Twenty startups have participated in three batches of the HAC to this day, nine of which are still active, and, some have even penetrated the local markets, each contributing to the advancement of innovation in the urban space in Israel and abroad.


Smart cities or Smart Mobility


The accelerator is intended for entrepreneurs with technological visions, development, marketing and programming capabilities. the maximum number of places in the program is 20 entrepreneurs. Registration is open to everyone starting the age of 21. It is intended for early-stage projects which did not received any investment from institutions. The nature of the start-up must be legal and moral. Priority to entrepreneurs with desire, passion, ability and commitment to the goal. Priority will be given to residents of Herzliya.


The selected companies will participate in a unique accelerate program managed within the HAC. In this structure, the adequate mentors will chose the work-plan, the duration of the program, the supervision, accompaniment of the participants and the parameters for success. In addition, the HAC will connect the relevant municipal officials with the program’s participants and partners, as well as the entire circle of the HAC such as leading companies, investors, venture capital fund and angels. The HAC space and infrastructure will be used by the participants for their ongoing work.


The program will take place over the course of 5 months, with professional support of uncompromising leading mentors with connections in various areas. Throughout the session, the entrepreneurs will be assisted in developing ideas and conducting tests for the final Demo Day where they will demonstrate their technology. In addition, the start-ups will be assisted in finalizing the business model, conduct market research, engage in dialogue with investors and create connections in the process.
The first month includes meetings and orientation with senior municipal officials and successful entrepreneurs, meetups on the subjects that all the participants must be familiarized with and important workshops.
Additionally, participants will focus on development and implementation of their technology and intensive work with UXI mentors.
The second month will focus on the business model, including preparation for the pitch for the Go To Market.
The third month is dedicated to all aspects of marketing and investments.
The fourth month will focus on preparation for the Demo Day, including pitching, finalizing technology and finalizing the demo.
The startups that are chosen on Demo Day will potentially participate in an exchange delegation with SpinLab located in Leipzig, Germany, which has a twin city program with Herzliya. The others will continue working in the open space at Hac where they will be assisted with all their necessary needs. Hac will also assist the start-ups that have been approved by the municipality with their POC and promoting their implementation plan.

Application process:
completing the online application will be the first step in the filtration process, the second step is an interview in front of the board of judges. It is possible that there will additional steps in applying for particular batches of startups.

Requirements and conditions of acceptance
  • A group that is at an early stage and has not yet raised any investment from institutions
  • 100% Commitment to the project - The team project needs to be present in the accelerator for the project at least 3 days a week to take part in the center’s activities
  • The project should be technological, legal and ethical
  • The team will consist of participants over 21 only
  • At least one technological leader per group
  • Commitment to work full-time on the project
  • Meeting the program and schedule goals
  • Participation fee of 200 NIS per month for each team member for a period of 5 months
  • The decision of the committee will be based on both the application form and a follow-up interview -preference for municipality projects
